The Woman Centre and the Employment and Training Department are two different areas of the Huércal-Overa Municipality.
The Woman Centre was created in 1991, the team consists : a social worker, a lawyer and a politician boss; and its main roles are: to attend to women with problems such as: domestic violence, gender discrimination, unemployment; as well as to organize events raising awareness of equality for different groups such as education, health, associations (women, mothers/parents, neighbours...) Depending on the activity programme and the budget, there are several trainers working in these areas (IT, English, Employment Searching and Guidance, Relaxation, Dancing, Handicraft, Painting...) We have had two programmes focused on guidance and training for Women Employment funded by European Social Fund, from 1995 till 2015.
The Employment and Training Department was created in1998, the team consists: a coordinator, a project development technician an administrative assistant, and a politician boss. They are involved in different projects: E-Learning, entrepeneurship, training courses for unemployed... The number of people who take part in these activities are around 500 per year. The learning periods depend of the kind of courses; for instance as a learner you can spend one month, three months, nine months or two years, taking part in a training proccess.
